MQ4 Methane CNG Gas Sensor

MQ4 Methane CNG Gas Sensor is a simple-to-use compressed natural gas (CNG) sensor, suitable for sensing natural gas (composed of mostly Methane[CH4]) concentrations in the air. The MQ-4 can detect natural gas concentrations anywhere from 200 to 10000 ppm.

MQ4 gas sensor is composed of micro AL2O3 ceramic tube, Tin Dioxide (SnO2) sensitive layer, measuring electrode and heater are fixed into a crust made by plastic and stainless steel net. The heater provides necessary work conditions for work of sensitive components. The enveloped MQ – 4 has 6 pin, 4 of them are used to fetch signals, and other 2 are used for providing heating current. This sensor has a high sensitivity and fast response time. The sensor’s output is an analog resistance. The drive circuit is very simple; all you need to do is power the heater coil with 5V, add a load resistance, and connect the output to an ADC.
