Figaro TGS2600 – Air Contaminants Sensor
TGS2600 detects Hydrogen, Carbon Monoxide, Ethanol, Methane,Iso-Butane, Cigarette Smoke and few other gases. Sensing element is comprisedof a metal oxide semiconductor layer formed on an alumina substrate of asensing chip together with an integrated heater. In the presence of adetectable gas, the sensor’s conductivity increases depending on the gasconcentration in the air. A simple electrical circuit can convert the change inconductivity to an output signal which corresponds to the gas concentration.
The TGS 2600 has high sensitivity to low concentrations of gaseous aircontaminants such as hydrogen and carbon monoxide which exist in cigarettesmoke. The sensor can detect hydrogen at a level of several ppm. Due tominiaturization of the sensing chip, TGS 2600 requires a heater current of only42mA and the device is housed in a standard TO-5 package.
